Tiles
Below are images of two bodies of work. The first, Bird’s Eye View, is a tile project I began as resident artist at the Hurleyville Maker's lab at The Center for Discovery after my family’s home burned to the ground. A video was filmed of the actual fire by a neighbor and posted online. I converted the audio waves of the fire and a lone bird among the ashes after the fire onto hand built clay slabs, buried the tiles in the earth in a pit fire, and laser cut the audio waves of the fire and bird.
The second series of tiles, On the Way and Back Again, and Steadfast, reflect upon a time in my life of continuous movement over many years.
